Band 5 Nurse

We're looking for registered nurses with an interest in Palliative Care to join the team at the Michael Sobell Hospice.

The role is part of a highly talented team that provides Palliative and End of Life Care at the Michael Sobell Hospice. We operate a 10 bed Inpatient Unit providing care for people with an advanced progressive illness in order to improve their quality of life and support their families. The team works in a multi-disciplinary, integrated way to offer the best possible holistic care.

We offer a full training programme and support for all our staff.

Salary: NHS Band 5 equivalent (Existing NHS pensions honoured or workplace pension available)

Retail vacancies

Part Time Maintenance Person – Shops

We are seeking a maintenance person who can undertake repairs and maintenance in our 11 shops and other buildings on an initial 4-month contract.

We are a collaboration of three charities - Harlington Hospice, Michael Sobell Hospice and Age UK Hillingdon, Harrow & Brent, and we need to ensure our shops are in tip-top condition at all times.

We are looking for someone with previous maintenance experience with a positive attitude and good communication skills. You must be self-sufficient, a problem solver and have good attention to detail.

The role requires you to work 20 hours a week throughout the week. You must be available 7 days a week to handle emergencies and have access to your own transport as locations will vary.

Salary: A competitive salary and benefits are available.

Part Time Assistant Managers - Shops

We're looking to recruit Assistant Managers for each of our 11 charity shops in northwest London to help deliver our exciting new retail strategy.

The shops are owned by Michael Sobell Hospice, Harlington Hospice and Age UK (Brent, Hillingdon and Harrow) charities who have united to maximise the synergies of working together and thus offers a great opportunity to develop your retail skills for the right candidate.

We are looking for someone who has previous experience working in a charity shop and has excellent staff, volunteer and customer management skills. You will be responsible for helping to manage the day-to-day running of the shop and be given the opportunity to develop your managerial skills.

We are looking for people who work 2-3 days a week (flexible) or Sunday only (6-8 hours). You must be able to cover staff holidays and other absences when required. You must own a car and be able to drive, as you may be asked to work in more than one shop.

Salary: A competitive salary and benefits are available.

Volunteering opportunities

Charity Shop Volunteers

We are appealing for Retail Volunteers to support our two Charity shops in Northwood and Eastcote, and Warehouse Collections Team, based in Harefield.

You don’t need any experience; there’s no minimum commitment, and we accept ages 14+ for those completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards or National Citzen Service.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to support your local Hospice and a great way to meet new people.

If you are thinking about returning to work by taking on a volunteer role or are seeking a new career in retail and fashion, this could be for you!

Book Stall Volunteers

Would you like to come on down and help support our Bookstall on a Tuesday at the Amersham Market or on a Wednesday in Chesham? The bookstall runs from 8.30am to 2.30pm and we're looking for volunteers to help manage it. The hours are flexible and you can choose when you'd like to work - anything from 1-2 hours a week or maybe the whole day. You're also under no obligation to commit to volunteering every week.

Working on our bookstall will provide you with the chance to help your local Hospice and make new friends too. So, why not give it a go? We'd love to hear from you.

Retail Warehouse Volunteers

We're looking for volunteers to join our retail warehouse team during the week. The hours are flexible but you must be available for at least 4 hours a week. We're looking for individuals who can work 1-2 days a week or are available to work 2 or 3 half days a week.

If you're looking to enter the job market or are thinking about returning to work. We can provide you with work experience and on-the-job training but you must be available to commit to a minimum of 3 to 6 months.
