A team of 15 bereavement counsellors support the families and friends of patients who have died whilst under the care of Michael Sobell Hospice. They make contact approximately one month after the person has died and counselling can range from a one-off telephone contact or single session, to a fixed number of sessions.

Our bereavement counsellors see people in Michael Sobell Hospice in its dedicated counselling room. They aim to help by listening; allowing expression of feeling and making sense of whatever the grieving person is experiencing.

Periodic coffee evenings allow people to return to Michael Sobell Hospice for mutual support and the opportunity to regain confidence in a social setting.
