March 2020 Newsletter

Quote from Ros Taylor, Clinical Consultant

The Inpatient Unit at the Hospice is functioning as usual with up to 10 beds now open. All protective measures are in place to take care of our patients and staff. Sadly, in line with Government recommendations we are limiting visitors to one at the bedside now.

Staff are also supporting patients at home via phone calls.

All the senior staff are involved in local planning for the pandemic and working closely with the hospital team, community nurses and other local charities.

In view of the current outbreak of Covid-19, the Charity is adapting its approach to Fundraising.

Charity Shops and Donations

Our shops in Eastcote, Northwood and Ruislip closed on 23 March 2020 and will not open until the current Government restrictions are lifted. We are appealing to supporters to not leave any donated items outside the shops as they cannot be received.

Home Collection Service

The Charity is also unable to continue its home collection service for donations and we will let everyone know when collections can be resumed.

Charity Book Stalls

Our weekly book stalls at Amersham and Chesham markets have also had to temporarily close.  We look forward to them being able to re-open in due course.

Charity Office

The Fundraising Office staff are now working from home and can be contacted on their usual email addresses and telephone numbers, or via
and 020 3826 2361.

Understandably, our forthcoming Fundraising Events have been postponed and we are asking that any entry or ticket fees be converted to a donation. However, where specifically requested, full refunds are being processed; so far this has been 30% of deposits. Thank you to those who have chosen to donate their entry or ticket fee.

Keeping the Hospice Inpatient Unit open and fully functioning to support the local community is our one and only priority in these difficult and uncertain times.

As we cannot raise funds through our usual means we need to rely on electronic donations and our eBay service.

Any other ideas that you may have to help raise funds for the Hospice would be gratefully received via

We need to raise £5,750 a day to support our 10 bed inpatient unit and complementary therapies.

Every donation you make takes us a step closer to helping local people with life limiting illnesses who need our support right now.

Thank You Vernon

Vernon Udugampola very generously donated two custom made motorised recliner chairs to MSH. In loving memory of his wife Kamanie Udugampola who was cared for at the Hospice.
