It was smiles all round as Northwood-based Michael Sobell Hospice Charity (MSHC) received a whopping £10,000 donation from singer, songwriter and Netflix TV star Kate Nash.

Commenting on her donation, Kate said: “Michael Sobell Hospice is an amazing place and a cause very close to my heart. Having spent time with patients, volunteers and staff (including my Mum Marie Nash) last summer when filming my music video for ‘Call Me’, I experienced first-hand the incredible work that goes on here on a daily basis and know that this unique place should be treasured now, and for many more years to come. Please get behind this wonderful local cause in whatever way you can.”

Along with the donation, Kate’s fans helped to raise over £1,641.70 from merchandise sales during her UK Made of Bricks tour and a £100 bid has been secured for a hand-painted classical guitar, previously owned and donated by the singer and sold through the Charity’s Ebay shop.

MSHC needs to raise over £1.6 million pounds each year to ensure the continued funding of essential hospice care services, including a 16-bedded inpatient unit and day centre facility.

Caroline Caisley, MSHC Head of Income Generation, added: “We are delighted to receive this wonderful donation from Kate, which will go a long way towards supporting patients affected by life limiting illness in their time of need. Kate has played a key part in the Charity’s fundraising over the past year and this additional donation will make a huge impact on caring for, and supporting our patients. Thank you so much on behalf of everyone involved with Michael Sobell Hospice and Michael Sobell Hospice Charity.”
