Chair of The Hospice Lottery Partnership Board
The Hospice Lottery Partnership (HLP) is seeking to appoint a new Chair with senior business and charity Board experience in order to provide leadership to the Board of Directors.
HLP is a not-for-profit social enterprise company established in 1997 and owned by 5 Hospices. HLP also has beneficiary partners in the Hospice and Hospital sectors. All of the partners are in the Home Counties.
HLP’s primary objective is to raise sustainable funds for the partners by operating a cause-led lottery. The partners use this essential funding to provide care for thousands of patients and families in their local communities. This is an exciting time to become Chair because of plans to further increase the number of beneficiary partners in order to grow income and ultimately support more care.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your professional experience to a not-for-profit company. The Chair will be fundamental to the evolution and sustainability of HLP. At a time when income is very challenged, this will enable the partner health charities to continue offering specialist and compassionate care to thousands of people every year.
HLP is seeking to appoint a confident, inspiring Chair of its board. The Chair will provide leadership and direction to the Board to develop clear strategic plans and operate within good governance. The Chair will establish a strong, supportive relationship with the experienced Chief Executive.
We are looking for an excellent communicator with strong leadership and strategic skills who has senior executive/non-executive experience. You will be able to constructively question management reports and financial information, as well as having a proven ability to build good relationships and networks. We are actively encouraging applicants from a wide range of backgrounds.
The Chair attends the Board and the supporting Finance & General Purposes Committee as required, which both meet quarterly, plus an annual away day. Meetings are usually held at Tring, but have been conducted on Zoom recently because of Covid. The current Chair offers several hours per month to HLP outside formal meetings.
A full induction will be offered to explain how HLP operates.
This is an unpaid voluntary position and will be appointed for three years with re-appointment (if desired) by Board approval.
For more information please see the role description and short note about HLP.
To arrange an informal conversation about the role please email: David Griffiths, CEO, HLP: DavidGriffiths@hospicelottery.org.uk
To apply please email JoTurner@fnhospice.org.uk briefly setting out why you are interested in becoming HLP Chair and what skills and professional experience you could bring to the Board. Please attach a CV or LinkedIn profile.
Application closing date: 25 March 2021
Interview date: early April 2021
