Who is it for?

All staff who come into contact with people who may be in the last days of life. It will primarily be of interest for Nurses (hospital based and community based), AHP's, Nursing and Residential care home staff, and other clinical staff groups who provide care for people in the last days of life.

Aim of session

To given an understanding of:

  • the principles and priorities for caring for people in the last days of life
  • how to manage common symptoms in the end of life
  • how to support people at the end of life

Content

To include:

  • Recognising dying
  • Promoting comfort
  • Care planning
  • Symptom control
