Giving a gift in donation of someone's life has great meaning; allowing a loved one to be both honoured and remembered. There are several ways you can give and remember:

Personal donation

You can make a regular donation or one-off donation online at any time. You choose the amount and can be assured all gifts are used to the benefit of our patients and their families. You can also send cheques (made payable to Michael Sobell Hospice Charity) to this address or pass your donation to any member of the Hospice team. Please remember to include your details and tell us who you are donating in memory of. Thank you!

Donation in lieu of flowers

Many people choose to ask friends and family to make a donation in lieu of flowers at a funeral service. This is easily organised and funeral directors' are usually happy to organise, collect any monies and send on to us. We can also provide you with special My Heartfelt Gift donation envelopes which can be placed on chairs at the funeral and allow friends and family to GiftAid their donations - so allowing an additional 25% to be added to their donations. We can also provide you with collection tins and buckets for any post-funeral events. If this is of interest, please contact the Fundraising Team.

We recognise COVID-19 is affecting funerals at this time. You can read the latest government guidance here.

Create a Heart Felt Tribute Fund

A Heart Felt Tribute Fund allows you to create a long-lasting tribute in memory of a loved one to share with family and friends. Your online memory box is a wonderful platform to share memories; upload photographs, video and favourite music tracks – perhaps a tune from a memorable concert, a football team anthem, the music from the first dance at your wedding, or simply music that holds strong memories for you.

A Heart Felt Tribute is completely free to set up, easy to share and will stay on Michael Sobell Hospice Charity’s dedicated site in perpetuity; giving you a place to return to if you wish to mark anniversaries, birthdays or special occasions. If you wish, you can use your tribute fund to raise money for Michael Sobell Day Hospice too.

Please note: MSH Heart Felt Tribute Funds are hosted on a dedicated third party tribute website operated by Much Loved.

JustGiving In Memory Page

Another way for friends and family to remember a loved one is for them to donate to an online JustGiving page.  Simply go to our online page, click on ‘fundraise’ and ‘Remembering someone’. You will need a JustGiving account, but this is quick and easy to set up - please do contact us if you need any help.

Events throughout the year

Many people take part in our fundraising and challenge events throughout the year in memory of someone special. You can see our forthcoming events or please email us to be added to our mailing list.

Our annual Light up a Life event takes place every year in December, offering you the opportunity to dedicate a festive light in memory of someone special. Further details can be found here.
