Delighted Hospice Lottery Superdraw winner heading to the sunshine!

Wednesday 17 January 2018 was a very lucky day for Superdraw supporter Mrs D from Maidenhead, who was delighted when she received a phone call from the lottery office to say that she had won the top prize of £5,000 in The Hospice Lottery Christmas Superdraw. Our Summer and Winter Superdraws raise extra funds in addition to the weekly draw and this year they have raised just over £82,000. Ruislip lady takes on London Landmarks Challenge in memory of Dad

Ruislip lady Ruth Heron will be running 13.1 miles through the City of London on Sunday 25th March in the London Landmarks Half Marathon event in memory of her Dad Ernie who was cared for at Michael Sobell Hospice (MSH) in Northwood. Ruth will be raising money for MSH where her Dad was cared for in 2014. Even though it will be Ruth’s fifth half marathon – “it still won’t be easy”, explained Ruth. Judi Byrne joins MSH Charity as new Chief Executive

Judi Byrne has joined Michael Sobell Hospice Charity (MSHC), Northwood, as its new Chief Executive in a role that will help to “build on the achievements” of the past 40 years. With over 20 years’ experience in healthcare services, predominately in palliative and end of life care, Judi’s career spans roles with St Luke’s Hospice, Kenton, Sue Ryder and NHS acute and clinical commissioning organisations. She has also contributed to the NHS National End of Life Care Strategy and led on the building, commissioning and opening of a new hospice in Lincolnshire. Local man Leslie is still volunteering at 90!

Meet local man Leslie Pereyra from Ruislip, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday volunteering at the Michael Sobell Hospice Charity (MSHC) shop based on the High Street in Ruislip, where he works every week, saying it has given him a “new lease of life!” Leslie lost his wife to cancer in 2014 when she passed away at the Hospice. He was feeling very lonely and low following the loss. Summer Sizzler – Ladies in the Night Walk returns!

For the ninth year-running, Michael Sobell Hospice Charity’s (MSHC) biggest fundraiser of the year, Ladies in the Night Walk, is back with a summer carnival twist on Friday 15th June at 10pm. This year’s event will see a sizzling carnival celebration along with a brand new 10-mile route or the popular 5.5 mile walking challenge. Watford Carpenders Park Garden Centre come up smelling of roses!
