Last year Michael Sobell Hospice helped over 1000 people with life limiting illnesses, their families and carers.

While the essential medical care at Michael Sobell Hospice is provided by the NHS, the Michael Sobell Hospice charity (formerly the Friends of Michael Sobell House) raises £1.5m each year to fund vital services.

Our charity, thanks to the support of the local community, contributes £2 of every £5 that is spent on patient care at the hospice.

Thanks to this combination of NHS (through the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust) and voluntary funding, Michael Sobell House is believed to be one of the very best hospice services in the UK today.

All services at Michael Sobell Hospice are provided is free to patients and their families. Charitable support helps to fund:

  • Inpatient Unit
  • Day Centre
  • Patient and Family Support Team
  • Education
  • Rehabilitation
  • MSH office and Administration
  • 40 staff posts

We are grateful to the local people, companies, groups and schools who fundraise and donate to make our work possible.
